HOW WE Help

Staff Training
We equip staff with the knowledge and practical tools to better understand and support individuals on the autism spectrum. Through workshops and hands-on training, participants learn how autism may affect communication, sensory processing, regulation, and behavior—and how their own interactions, expectations, and environment can make a difference. Training is tailored to each organization and the real situations staff encounter, providing practical strategies they can use with greater understanding and confidence.

Environment & Experience Review
We look at how individuals on the autism spectrum may experience an environment, considering sensory demands, layout, communication, navigation, predictability, and expectations. We identify potential barriers and opportunities for improvement, then provide practical recommendations based on how the space is used and the individuals it serves.
The goal is to create environments and experiences that are easier to understand, navigate, and participate in.

Supportive Space Design
Welcoming Spaces helps organizations make thoughtful changes to physical environments based on how individuals on the autism spectrum may experience and use them. Recommendations may address lighting, sound, visual load, layout, movement, sensory needs, communication supports, and areas for regulation. Each solution is tailored to the setting, its purpose, and the people it serves—creating spaces that are more supportive, predictable, and easier to navigate.

Practical Resources & Visual Supports
We help organizations develop practical resources that make environments and experiences easier to understand and navigate. Depending on the setting and the individuals served, these may include visual guides, sensory maps, communication supports, or sensory tools that provide greater clarity and predictability before and during an experience.

Ongoing Continual Support and Updates
Our work can continue as an organization’s needs, spaces, programs, or services evolve. Welcoming Spaces provides follow-up consultation, guidance, and support to help teams build on what is working, address new challenges, and refine their approach over time.
